About

Claire Foale is an abstract expressionist landscape artist.
Having lived in Christchurch, Dorset close to the sea and New Forest, and now based in York, North Yorkshire, I have always been inspired by nature and our changing relationship with it.
After nearly 30 years working as a senior manager in the civil service and for my local authority, I have rediscovered my love of contemporary abstract and expressionist art, painting in natural colour to express the energy and capture the feeling of nature's landscapes.

I have chosen three simple interconnected natural themes, which I hope you enjoy as much as I enjoyed creating abstract and expressionist art that reflects them:
-
Trees as nature's lungs, protecting the natural world from man-made toxins, and representing all on-land.
-
Seas, who with the constant rhythm of the waves, act as the heart of our natural world, reflecting all oceans.
-
The skies, wrapping around the planet and holding us all to our home, the earth, like one gigantic hug.
The size and scale of my abstract and expressionist paintings, combined with the natural colour palette, are designed to light-up any room, balancing your interior world with the exterior and providing a striking and bold reminder of our place in the natural world.
I am happy for commissions, changing the size or palette of any image.
